What is sugaring?

Sugaring is an ancient Egyptian hair removal technique that uses a water-soluble sugar paste is used to extract unwanted hairs

How is sugaring different than waxing?

Sugaring removes hair in the natural direction of growth, which is the opposite of waxing (which removes hair against the natural direction of growth).  According to Web MD, removing hair in the natural direction of growth can also help to prevent ingrown hair.  In addition, the sugaring process doesn’t involve sticks or strips, so there’s no need to worry about the possibility of “double dipping.” Each ball of sugar paste is only used for one client and is discarded after a single use.  Lastly, sugar warmers only heat sugar paste to a lukewarm temperature (at maxium heat), unlike wax which is often heated to higher temperatures and poses the risk of a burn

How long does my hair need to be to get sugared?

For best results we recommend that hair is at least 1/8” long.  This would be about 14 days since your last shave or 1 month since your last sugaring or waxing session

How do I prepare for my sugaring session?

We recommend arriving with clean, dry skin, sans any lotions or oils. We recommend exfoliating your skin regularly, but take break from your exfoliating regimen 1-2 days before your sugaring appointment.

What is in the sugar paste (besides sugar)?

Lemon and water. That’s it. Seriously

If I take Accutane or use topical products with retinol is it safe to get sugared?

We do not recommend body sugaring within 6 months of taking Accutane. We also recommend that you wait at least 1 week after using a topical product with retinol (on the area you intend to have sugared) before you get sugared

Can I get sugared right before I get an airbrush tan?

Absolutely. Actually, we recommend it. The exfoliation and lack of shaving (especially if you get your legs or arms sugared) will help a spray tan last longer.

How should I prepare for my tan?

We highly recommend that you moisturize and exfoliate regularly, especially the day before your appointment.  We recommend the Body Scrub in combination with an exfoliating mitt (both also available for purchase) for your regular exfoliating regimen.  It is also ideal to schedule nail and/or sugaring appointments before a spray tan rather than after.  We recommend avoiding the use of products with retinol and/or salicylic acid for at least 1 week prior to your tanning session.  It is best to arrive to your appointment without any oil-based products on your skin

What should I wear while I’m getting an airbrush tan?

Ladies, you are welcome to wear as little or as much as you are comfortable wearing- just keep unwanted tan lines in mind! (We have disposable thongs available for a $1.00 if needed.)  Gentlemen, we request that you wear underwear or swimwear

How long will my tan last?

This depends on several factors including your skin type, skin cycle, lifestyle, and care. It should last for the minimum of a week and has the potential to last as long as two weeks. The best thing that you can do to increase the longevity of your tan is to apply our Tan Extender once a day. Also, try to avoid activities that speed up your skin’s natural exfoliation process. Keep in mind that long showers/baths, hot tubs, heavy sweating, and swimming in saltwater and/or chlorine all tend to dry out your skin.

I have very fair skin, will a spray tan still look natural?

Yes, we will assist you picking the right level for your skin tone. However, if you are new to spray tanning, we suggest selecting a lighter shade (level 1 or level 2) for the first session.

Why does my face tan fade faster?

This is due to several reasons. First, facial skin is thinner than skin found on other parts of the body. The face is also more exposed to the environment and endures more frequent washing. In addition, makeup, anti-aging creams, astringents, etc. tend to break down the tan more quickly.

Is sunless tanning safe for pregnant and breastfeeding women?

The active ingredient, DHA, has never been tested extensively on pregnant or breastfeeding women. We simply request that clients ask their doctor for an approval before they book a session.

What should I wear to my tanning appointment?

It is best to wear (or bring a change of) dark, loose fitting clothing and slip-on shoes. (There is cosmetic bronzer in the solution and there is a chance that it can rub off on clothing. It washes out of most materials, but it is better to be on the safe side and not wear anything light in color.) Flip flop sandals are available for $3.00 upon request. In addition, we offer a curated selection of dark, loose fitting clothing that is ideal to wear after a tan

FAQ's

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent brow tattoo performed with a small handheld tool called a microblade. Unlike a regular tattoo, pigment is implanted in the epidermis (first layer of skin). This is performed with a small handheld tool instead of a machine which allows for immense precision. A feather stroke technique will create the illusion of the natural flow of hair. This produces the appearance of fuller eyebrows to enhance the natural features of the face. Microblading is a softer/more subtle result, these pigments are designed to gently fade over time, and heal soft and true to color by mimicking a natural hair follicle.

Does Microblading Hurt?

Pigment is placed in the epidermis, which is the outermost layer of the skin unlike a tattoo. Whether microblading hurts or not depends on your own pain tolerance. For some, it can feel like tiny scratches. However, a topical numbing agent is applied before and throughout the procedure which can help to reduce or eliminate any pain associated with the procedure.

How long does it last?

The pigment used is semi-permanent and can last between 1-3 years, however the pigment will begin to fade within 6-12 months depending on your skin type and how well you maintain them. Humans shed their entire outer layer of skin every 2-4 weeks, which reforms new layers of skin. Since the pigment is placed in the outermost layer of the skin, eventually your pigment will fade and soften which will cause you to need touch ups to maintain shape, color, and detail.

Listed below are some factors that may cause fading:

● OILY SKIN tends to fade faster

● SUN EXPOSURE can cause fading and discoloration (always apply sunscreen or keep them covered)

● USE OF SKIN PRODUCTS (EXFOLIANTS)
